Whitton Day Nursery is small and very friendly and is situated in a small, quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by friendly neighbours.

The nursery is close to two local Infant schools – St. Edmunds R.C. School and Nelson Infant and Junior School, both of which have excellent reputations. Whitton’s small but comprehensive shopping centre is two minutes walk away and Whitton B.R. station is close by. Buses 281 and H22 will take you to Hounslow, Twickenham and beyond.

Because the road in which we ‘live’ is small, we have negotiated free parking in the library car park, close by. This entitles you to up to ½ hour parking at the beginning, middle and end of the day. Please use this facility when dropping off/collecting children.  Parking in the Close is not permitted for parents or staff, except for medical or other emergencies and those using taxi-cabs. Please see our Green Transport Policy for further details.

Other facilities in the area include the Library, which is just next door and which we visit with small groups of children for story-times. Occasional visits to the local park are much enjoyed by the children and staff!

We are registered for 41 children aged between 3 months and 5 years old. The majority of these children attend on a full-time basis.

In the main Nursery (for those aged approx 2 – 5 years) we have one large playroom, a ‘Quiet Room’ and a ‘Pre-school Room’, where many of the pre-school education activities take place. This enables our Nursery Teacher to work with small groups or on a one-to-one basis with individual children and allows the children to use their own computer undisturbed by the younger children.

The outdoor area is small but well used and has safety surfacing. It is surrounded by high fencing and is private and secure. Outdoor activities are extremely varied.

All playroom furniture is at child level and is chosen for its mobility and adaptability, enabling the staff to create different environments to stimulate young children.

The equipment is varied and well maintained. Toys, games and resources are chosen for their durability, play and education value and are age appropriate. There is a wide range of Art, Craft and Technology materials. Children are encouraged to make their own ‘choices’ in the daily activities and to be self-sufficient.

The nursery is well decorated and is bright and cheerful with children’s artwork displayed for you to admire and our housekeeper ensures that it is clean and fresh.

The children have their own computers, which are connected to the Internet.  We have a security system installed which protects the children from undesirable content and also prevents ‘pop-up’ ads. The computer is used for learning keyboard and mouse skills, playing interactive games on CD and visiting children's web-sites.
