Whitton Day Nursery and its employees are committed to
our policy of Equal Opportunities towards all children,
families, visitors and staff.
It is our
intention that all children should be able to enjoy the full range of
activities, play equipment and materials without regard to their physical,
sensory or educational abilities; race, colour or ethnic origin. Our children
will not be discriminated against for their race, skin colour, religious
beliefs, gender, ability or perceived social standing
Staff,
parents/carers and visitors shall also not be discriminated against on any of
these grounds or for their sexual orientation, state of health, employment or
financial status
The
Nursery staff are trained to actively promote anti-discriminatory practices and
attitudes amongst children, volunteers, visitors and parents. Language or
behaviour deemed to be offensive or discriminatory to any of the above groups is
not acceptable and will not be tolerated in the Nursery
Any
parent/carer or child known to practice discriminatory behaviour in the
community will not be accepted into the Nursery unless they are willing to learn
to accept those who are different to themselves as valuable members of the
community or, if they are already in attendance, will be asked to do the same or
leave
Any member
of staff, or volunteers, who is found to practice discriminatory behaviour
either within the Nursery or the wider community, whether or not during working
hours, will be subject to disciplinary procedures in accordance with the
Nursery’s Code of Conduct (staff)
Children
attending Whitton Day Nursery will be actively taught non-discriminatory
attitudes and behaviour in a non-threatening manner with the best interest of
every child, and their families, at heart.
This policy is determined by
current legislation under English Law and is fully endorsed by Whitton Day
